Academy Program

The St. John's Soccer Academy is for young players who desire to learn and play soccer at the highest level within the province. Players include both girls and boys teams from our U7-U12 Metro League teams, through to our competitive Premier Youth League teams at U13-U17.

Academy players train two times per week throughout the winter season at the Techniplex indoor facility. The majority of our players are multi-sport athletes and enabling players to benefit and learn from other sports is encouraged within our club as long as soccer remains part of their sporting portfolio.

In the spring and summer months, athletes train 2-3 times per week in addition to regular games, training camps and travel for games depending on the team they are in. Although our older age group teams play in various competitive leagues within the province, the overall focus of the Academy program is long-term player development (LTPD).

Our programs closely follow the Canada Soccer Pathway which is built around the principles of LTPD, which is designed to give players an optimal soccer experience at every stage by putting their needs front and centre.
